Villanueva’s 8th HR extends hit streak to 11

Christian Villanueva left no doubt as to whether he’d extend his hitting streak Saturday night. The Padres first baseman worked an excellent eight-pitch at-bat in the bottom of the first inning against Mets starter Jason Vargas. On the eighth offering, Villanueva mashed a long home run into the left-center-field bullpen.
