Solarte, bats carry Padres past Cardinals

Yangervis Solarte had a homer, two doubles and knocked in a career-high six runs as the Padres topped the Cardinals in the series opener, dropping St. Louis 4 1/2 games back of the Cubs in the NL Central. Austin Hedges added a three-run homer for the Padres. Jedd Gyorko, Yadi Molina and Stephen Piscotty hit homers for the Cardinals, but Lance Lynn saw his streak of eight consecutive quality starts end.
