Smyly becomes FA; Romine signs 1-year deal

Pitchers Drew Smyly and Shae Simmons were non-tendered by the Mariners on Friday, making them free agents rather than going into the arbitration process, while the club came to agreement on a one-year deal with utility man Andrew Romine to avoid arbitration.
