Romano makes early support stand up vs. Mets

Sal Romano allowed two hits and one run in six-plus innings, and Phillip Ervin homered and drove in three as the Reds beat the Mets, 6-1, on Tuesday. Scooter Gennett went 3-for-4 and drove in one of the Reds’ three runs in a first inning that saw a weather delay of more than an hour. Mets starter Jason Vargas recorded one out and did not return after the stoppage, forcing New York to use five relievers in the loss. Jose Bautista ended an 0-for-23 stretch with an RBI single in the second for the Mets.
