Nats score 14 in final 2 innings to back Pizon
Rookie Jefry Rodriguez had the best start of his career, dealing six scoreless innings, and the Nats finally ended a 32-inning scoreless drought to take the finale in Queens. Juan Soto’s RBI groundout plated the first run, before D.C. broke out with a six-run eighth — punctuated by Bryce Harper’s bases-clearing pinch-hit double and two-run taters from Wilmer Difo and Adam Eaton — and six in the ninth, highlighted by Mark Reynolds’ grand slam. The late outburst spoiled the good work of Steven Matz, who allowed one run in seven innings for his second straight good outing.
