Montas stellar as A’s ride pair of 7-run frames

Frankie Montas logged eight shutout innings and Matt Olson belted his 10th and 11th homers, the second a three-run jack that highlighted a seven-run third frame in the series opener. Dustin Fowler also went deep twice, his second in a seven-run ninth against the Royals’ bullpen. Kansas City starter Ian Kennedy took the loss and was tagged for eight runs and three homers in just three innings.
