J.D.’s 16th September HR gives him 2 records

Arizona players and coaches are running out of ways to describe the homers that J.D. Martinez hits and the impact that they’ve had in September. Luckily for them, he is leaving behind plenty of records to do the talking. Martinez hit his 45th homer of the season in the ninth inning to spark the D-backs’ 4-3 comeback win over the Giants at Chase Field on Wednesday. It was his fifth home run in the past six games and his 16th in September.
