Gio stifles D-backs after Ray’s early exit

In a game counterpart Robbie Ray departed early with an injury, Gio Gonzalez offered his best performance of the season. Gonzalez (3-2) struck out a season-high eight over seven innings of one-run ball, Matt Wieters and Michael Taylor homered off long reliever T.J. McFarland, and the Nationals held on for a 3-1 victory over the D-backs.
