Frazier’s slam sparks rout as Mets cool off Cubs

Todd Frazier socked a grand slam in the first inning, but the Cubs kept the Mets from adding on for the next five innings. New York finally broke through for four runs in the seventh, highlighted by Jose Reyes’ pinch-hit two-run triple, and Frazier added an RBI single in a two-run ninth. Ian Happ’s RBI infield single was all Chicago’s offense managed off of Mets starter Jason Vargas, though Victor Caratini drove a two-run homer in the ninth.
