Flaherty quiets Pirates to continue ROY push

Rookie Jack Flaherty allowed one run in seven innings, and Jose Martinez and Tyler O’Neill each hit two-run homers to help the Cardinals beat the Pirates, 5-2, in the series opener on Tuesday. Pirates starter Ivan Nova allowed four runs in 3 2/3 innings and was relieved by Steven Brault, who struck out six in 3 1/3 scoreless innings.
