Fister, Nats to battle for playoff lives vs. Bumgarner
When the Nats lost Game 1 of the National League Division Series on Friday, Bryce Harper said he didn’t “even want to think about” what might happen if they also dropped Game 2. It was simply not an option for Washington, knowing San Francisco’s best pitcher — Madison Bumgarner — lay in wait for Game 3. But that’s exactly what unfolded, and following a cross-country flight and a much-needed off-day, it will be up to Doug Fister to beat Bumgarner in Monday’s Game 3.
