Elite catching prospect Mejia joins Indians
With Major League rosters expanding Friday to allow clubs to keep up to 40 active players, the Cleveland Indians announced a flurry of moves. They recalled catcher and No. 1 prospect (No. 16 overall in MLBPipeline.com’s Top 100 list) Francisco Mejia from Double-A Akron, selected the contract of outfielder Greg Allen (Indians’ No. 8 prospect) and recalled left-handed pitcher Shawn Morimando (Indians’ No. 17) from Triple-A Columbus.
