Edgar encouraged by boost in HOF vote total

The names of the National Baseball Hall of Fame inductees for 2015 were revealed Tuesday by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America, and once again Edgar Martinez was not among them. In his sixth year of eligibility, Martinez finished 12th among the 34 players listed on this year’s ballot, although he saw one positive in the fact that his voting percentage climbed slightly from 25.2 percent in 2014 to 27 percent (148 of 549 ballots).
