Duffy optioned to clear roster spot for Pagan

Joe Panik’s surge of competence left no viable role for Giants infielder Matt Duffy, who was optioned back to the Minors before Thursday’s series finale against the Brewers. Duffy’s departure cleared roster room for center fielder Angel Pagan, who was reinstated from the disabled list and immediately reclaimed his customary spot atop the Giants’ batting order.
