Cubs: Baez (eye) OK after head-first collision
Javier Baez, who has been the Cubs’ everyday shortstop since Addison Russell was hurt, had to come out of Sunday’s 5-1 loss to the Braves in the third inning after sliding head-first into second base. After the game, the Cubs said Baez had blurred vision in his right eye. They also said that the initial reports were good and he’d join the club Monday in Pittsburgh, where the Cubs open a four-game series with the Pirates.
