Carpenter slugs NL-leading 32nd home run

Matt Carpenter helped open the Cardinals’ Interleague Series in Kansas City with his league-leading 32nd home run, a two-run blast to highlight the team’s five-run second inning. With the homer, Carpenter has reached base safely in 28 consecutive games and now gone deep in six of seven games on the Cardinals’ current road trip.
