Carpenter homers for 5th time in 6 games in win

Matt Carpenter hit his fifth home run in six games as the Cardinals won their fourth straight series. Carpenter’s National League-leading 31st homer was his second go-ahead shot in as many nights. Yadier Molina also went deep against Marlins rookie Trevor Richards, who was chased in the sixth after giving up three runs and striking out seven. John Gant allowed just one run over six innings for the win.
