Carpenter, DeJong mash blasts in victory

The most successful month the Cardinals have had in a half century closed with a 12-5 victory over the Reds at Busch Stadium on Friday. Matt Carpenter hit his National League-leading 35th homer, while Paul DeJong drove home a career-high five RBIs. Austin Gomber earned the win with St. Louis moving to 7-0 during his starts in his rookie campaign. Homer Bailey struggled for Cincinnati, while Scott Schebler had a three-hit night which included his 13th home run of the year.
