Cards top Cubs, remain in postseason mix

The Cardinals’ postseason chances will survive a while longer after the club snapped its four-game losing streak with a win over the Cubs at Wrigley Field on Saturday. They’d need a Dodgers loss to stay in the mix. Miles Mikolas tossed eight sharp innings, limiting Chicago to an unearned run on an error, and Paul DeJong and Matt Carpenter backed him with RBI singles. The Cubs’ Cole Hamels dealt seven innings, yielding two runs (one earned) and fanning eight, but Chicago will have to wait until Game 162 to vie for the National League Central title.
