‘Big Red’ GM makes intriguing case for Hall of Fame

Bob Howsam, the architect of the Big Red Machine, is on the Golden Era Ballot to be considered for the Hall of Fame by the Veterans Committee next month. He died in 2008, and never was a major public figure, but he made a remarkable impact on the U.S. sports scene, including during tenures as general manager for the Reds and Cardinals.
