Asuaje, ‘Aguila Negra’ come up big for Padres

Carlos Asuaje and Jose Pirela knocked in runs in the ninth inning as the Padres edged the Cardinals in the series finale. Carlos Martinez was solid for St. Louis, allowing one earned run over seven innings, as the Cardinals remained 4 1/2 games back of the Cubs in the NL Central. Randal Grichuk got the Cardinals close with a home run in the ninth, but St. Louis fell short.
