After Jeff Samardzija’s eight shutout frames, Sean Doolittle allowed five runs in the ninth as the A’s fell, 6-1, to the Rangers. In the process, the Angels clinched the AL West crown and the A’s fell into a tie with the Royals for the AL Wild Card lead.
