A’s fall short vs. Rangers; wait out Mariners

A spot in the American League Wild Card Game still eludes the A’s, whose magic number remains 1 with one to play following a 5-4 loss to the Rangers at Globe Life Park on Saturday evening. Oakland can still clinch a postseason berth, however, if the Mariners lose to the Angels.
