Appel tosses five scoreless frames in Double-A debut
Mark Appel, making his first Double-A start for the Hooks on Wednesday night at Whataburger Field, threw five scoreless innings against San Antonio, allowing two singles and four walks, and struck out four batters in his second consecutive strong performance following a shaky professional debut.
