A’s bullpen falters as Wild Card lead shrinks
Usually unhittable, Lou Trivino was tagged for a two-run, go-ahead homer off the bat of Justin Upton in the sixth, setting up a rather anticlimactic inning for the just-acquired Fernando Rodney. Rodney offered a clean seventh, but the A’s late-inning magic betrayed them in this one, leading to a 4-3 series-opening loss to the Angels that loosened their hold on the second American League Wild Card spot.
