Hardy delivers 5 strong innings in spot-start win

It’s rare that Blaine Hardy makes a start if everything is going as it should for the Tigers’ rotation. He was handed the ball on Saturday night against the Indians at Comerica Park with the Tigers needing him to plug another leak, and he did so in the win. Mike Clevinger was sick throughout Friday night and Cleveland was strongly considering scratching him on Saturday. Clevinger gave the club an admirable effort with eight strikeouts and one walk.
