Holdzkom takes unlikely path to MLB debut

Rookie John Holdzkom, who features a palmball, entered in the eighth inning Tuesday to strike out all three Cardinals batters he faced in a close game. One of them was Kolten Wong, who the day before had belted a game-tying two-run home run off Gerrit Cole. Another was Matt Carpenter, who led the National League in hits last season.
