Epstein says Maddon will return to Cubs in ’19

President of baseball operations Theo Epstein told reporters on Wednesday afternoon that Joe Maddon will return as the Cubs’ manager in 2019 despite uncertainty stemming from Chicago’s early postseason exit. The Cubs, who lost Monday’s National League Central tiebreaker game to the Brewers, were eliminated with Tuesday night’s 2-1, 13-inning loss to the Rockies in the NL Wild Card Game at Wrigley Field.
