Defense lets Samardzija, A’s down in loss
Right-hander Jeff Samardzija blanked the White Sox on six hits over seven innings, but a pair of unearned runs in the eighth inning sent the American League Wild Card-leading A’s down to a 2-1 defeat on Wednesday night at U.S. Cellular Field.
