Big Foot stays on roll, shuts down Tigers
The White Sox needed assistance from Big Foot to shut down the Tigers on Saturday. Lucas Giolito dominated, allowing one run — a Mikie Mahtook home run — over seven innings while striking out six. Drew VerHagen righted the ship for the Tigers after starter Ryan Carpenter was knocked around for six runs in 4 1/3 innings in his fifth career start. Kevan Smith drove in two on his first homer of the season, and Matt Davidson added two doubles and an RBI to lead the Sox offense in a comfortable win.
